It is not a diabetes-management tool and is not designed to treat or manage any medical condition. If you have diabetes or another health condition, follow your healthcare provider's guidance.

How is Bazu different from other food apps?

Most apps just count calories or macros. Bazu turns a food's full nutrition into one clear score and flags what to watch for, glucose spikes and unhealthy, ultra-processed products, so you can find the foods that are genuinely good for you. Think of it as Yuka, but for blood sugar.

What is the Bazu Score?

The Bazu Score rates any food from 0 to 100 on the quality of its nutrition. Every food starts near the top, then the score adds credit for fiber, protein, and good fats and subtracts for sugar, the carb load a serving delivers, saturated fat, sodium, and empty calorie density. A few ingredients the label can't show move it too, refined starches, added phosphates, artificial sweeteners, and deep-frying. Do I need a CGM or any device?

No. Bazu estimates a food's glucose impact from its nutrition, so you do not need a continuous glucose monitor or any sensor. Just scan a barcode, snap a photo, or search a food.

How accurate is the glucose curve?

Accepted Answer

Each curve is a research-based estimate of how a typical body responds to a food, not a reading from your own blood. The digestion speed behind it is computed from the food's own label by a published formula and bounded by measured ranges for that class of food, the same figure the Bazu Score is built on. It is built to show the shape and size of a food's spike so you can compare options, not to predict your exact numbers.

Is Bazu free, and what does Plus unlock?

Yes, and you can scan a real meal during signup, before you decide anything. Your first week is then a real run at the whole app: 12 scans across 7 days with everything unlocked, including your Bazu Score, the glucose curve, the nutrition dashboard, and the weight journey. After that the free plan keeps going at 3 scans every 30 days, and those four move to Plus, though anything you have already logged stays free to read. Bazu Plus lifts the scan limit and unlocks all of it, plus healthier swaps for every food and AI logging by photo, barcode, or text. It is $9.99/month or $59.99/year in the US, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.

Where does Bazu get its nutrition data?

Bazu draws on vetted food databases, USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, and Edamam, plus AI that reads photos and labels. The scoring thresholds are anchored to published standards from the FDA, WHO, AHA, ADA, and the National Academies.

What happens if I edit or delete a meal?

Accepted Answer

Nothing is destroyed. An edit is a replace: the original is kept and everything attached to it moves across to the corrected version, including a real CGM curve you had already recorded. A delete hides the meal rather than erasing it, so your history and your measured data survive either way.

Question 13

I eat late. Which day does a midnight snack count toward?

Accepted Answer

It appears on the day you actually ate it, where its glucose moved, but it counts toward the previous day's streak, score, and meal slots. A Bazu day runs 4 AM to 4 AM, and the app tells you which day a late meal is counting toward, so a 1 AM snack never quietly starts a new day.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. You can cancel your Bazu Plus subscription anytime through your Apple App Store settings. You'll keep Plus features until the end of your billing period.
